How’s this global warming working out for you? If it gets any hotter, I might have to go buy some beachfront property in Point Barrow, and charge tolls from oil tankers looking for a northwest passage straight over the North Pole. I know some people like it like this, and most others would prefer to ignore global climate change rather than give up their petroleum-guzzling toys. It’s an exciting time to be alive; I’ll give it that. Fortunately, there is plenty of outdoor entertainment in the summer, though the cocktail waitresses can’t be too happy about that, can they?
Best bets for this weekend look like Me’shell Ndegeocello at the Santa Monica Pier if you can make it there by this (Thursday) evening. They’ve got some of the best acts this summer. All Wood and Stones are at Levitt LA (MacArthur Park ) tonight, too, acoustic versions of Stones songs, good stuff. Dustbowl Revival will be there tomorrow night and Ritmo Caliente on Sunday, reflecting the changing face of downtown. It ain’t all Latino any more. Speaking of downtown Rufus (remember them?) will be at the Grand Performances water court on Saturday night and tomorrow it’s Mucca Pazza, with their signature style of a marching-band-gone-astray. Considering they’ll be at both Levitts this weekend in a county-wide three-fer, I’m tempted to check them out. The Balkan boys of Fanfare Ciocarlio will be with them downtown with their brass… band. There’s no excuse to stay inside this weekend… I keep telling myself. Decisions decisions…
